You need not be kind, you just need to appear like you are.

Key word: Need not. Which doesn’t mean you ‘shouldn’t’ but more like it’s ’not necessary’ to be one to ascend your status.

What’s of more paramount importance, in pretty much any field where high levels of morals exist is always seeming to appear that you are kind. This could be as simple as making way for another person to pass his car before you in places like say a rich white neighbour’s wedding parking lot, allowing another person to alternate your cable machine when you are in an expensive gym, holding the door and allow the person in front of you to pass at a friend’s party.

Now a very contrary opinion to this is doing exactly THE OPPOSITE of all the examples listed above to people whom you both mutually envy and show disgust. Theres always one or two people as such either in your class, in your workplace for whom showing this minor kindness is taken as being submissive towards them, in cases like that revv your engine louder if you see them pass by, instead of holding the door just walk past them as if they are invisible.

A person who bites the feeding hand will usually lick the boots that kicks them. Read that again.
In other words - be a douche; but strictly only towards them. This is the only way to make them respect you. Appear kind to everyone else so that even if your foes bad mouth about you the people you’ve shown kindness to will say “no way @Dr. Mog is one of the kindest people I’ve met”.

TLDR: Be kind to people who are positive towards you. More importantly be kind to the people who are neutral, this brings them to your positive side.

For the people, your foes, for whom kindness doesn’t do the job - be a douche. It’s a win-win situation and you can exhibit both of your personalities to gain respect from either sides.

Personal experience, bitch.

I've never needed people to speak well of me to enjoy status amongst any set of acquaintances I've ever had. And I've never let any hand feed me in my adult life. I feed myself and therefore can bite any hand I wish.

The eziest way to appear kind is to genuinely be kind

Yep but only to a selected number of people. A friend to all is a friend to one. Getting called good morning by a person who also wishes good morning to every second fool in the street and his dog isn’t the same as getting complimented or wished by a person who is selective about his word usage.

true, im genuinely a terrible person on the inside but on the outside its a difference story, I'll act nice to anyone regardless of race, religion, beliefs etc but would gladly stab someone in the back or treat them like the dirt on the bottom of my foot if I needed to
