Your body will priorities most of its nutrients towards muscle repair rather than bone growth. I hit the gym while eating matienence calories for about year and didn't grow at all. Now i am finally growing because ive been eating tons more. Morale of the story is EAT

caloric deficit really stunts growth?
 
enjoying my 500 cal deficit
 
but high body fat also mean estrogen whic is bad for growth.
