Over the past year, in particular the summer, I have become very popular.
I am a well known and well liked “jock” in my school.

I have always been ND, but by getting out more and being around girls and partying, etc, I have learned how to kind of “mask it” and be NT.

Crazy how the neurodivergence always comes back though.

Whether in short bursts, or week long anxiety attacks.

Tonight I went out to the bar with my friends.
I felt so ND, and self-conscious, and autistic.

Even with people I’ve known for years, I couldn’t make eye contact, I was stuttering, forgetting simple words, making unfunny jokes.

I think it’s why I resort to drinking.
It makes me NT, but without it I usually can’t function in party settings or social gatherings.

Just wanted to share how hellish being a popular ND person can be.

All of this pressure to seem “normal”

One mistake or misstep, and you’re back to being an autistic weirdo with no friends.

I’m good at masking (with the pros and cons that come with it)
I honestly don't understand why I get so much respect or even, more rarely, reverence (which is definitely embarrassing since I hate positive attention)

The moment you claim to be a popular well known 'jock' its already been long over buddy boyo.

Obviously it’s a very ND thing to say and very autistic, but its true.

You wouldn’t say its over if a popular hot girl said she was a popular hot girl.

I make observations.
