It's normal to feel insecure about different things, but what has a more detrimental effect on your mental health isn't what others may think of you but what you think of yourself.

It is a way to cope, but that doesn't mean it's bad. If you think something is ruining your life, that has a far greater effect than what people theoretically think about that thing.
