Biologically we optimally reproduce from about 16-24. Certainly the healthiest sperm comes from those ages, and a female's ability to bear the healthiest children as well. This means that EVERYTHING you do in life, whether you're a famous artist, a CEO, a millionaire, a hippie traveler, a habitual criminal, a cute grocery bagger, etc. has significantly more value attached to it when it's done in that window. This is because you still represent someone who can pass those traits onto offspring, which is of course the core/only meaning of life. So psychologically people assign way more gravity to you. You still represent the future....not a movie that's already rolling the credits
Be honest, nobody really gives a fuck about a musician over 30, certainly over 35. A woman who dyes her hair over 30. Nobody gives a fuck about the 45 year old guy who finally hits millions and buys a luxury sportscar. We dismiss and clown that guy as having a "midlife crisis"...but if a 24 year old buys a corvette we say it's the coolest thing ever. We feel it's real.
This is why older people who get plastic surgery to look younger end up not noticing much difference in how they're treated, because at most the procedure has succeeded in making them look mid-30s. They're not able to capture the glow of their sexual peak. Once you're out of that young (incredibly short) window of vitality, there is a dramatic shift in the way the world treats you and perceives you. You get relegated to the background, amongst the faceless masses of people past their peaks. The world sours on you and anything you do, and you become a ghost moving through purgatory for the next 60 years. You are no longer an active participant in life.
This is also why selling teenagers on degrees and big career dreams is the slickest trick: They're still deluded enough to think they'll either A) never get old, or B) be the cool exception and be the older person everyone loves and cares about. So they grind away their youth, climbing the rungs, only to realize once they finally achieve their "success" in their 30s, nobody could care less. You're old, irrelevant now. Congrats I guess? They realize no one cares about the overworked exploited six figure doctor, they only cared about the 23 year old studying in school going out to the bars in town with the potential to become a future doctor
And so this is why looksmaxxing is a tenuous thing: Either you have to ascend in that prime window and then ALSO take advantage of it as much as possible, or somehow deceive people into thinking you're still in it later. But it really puts things into perspective: Everything people do in life, all their grand strides, are basically trying to recapture the value they had in that prime. Nearly every old billionaire says they'd trade it all to go back to being a broke 20 year old college student....there's a reason for that. Or it's a monument to that prime. Notice how virtually every love story depicted onscreen only involves people conveniently still in that prime? Nobody would go see a love story between two old people.
Moral of the story is you have to convey that period in anything you do for it to feel "real" to others, and not just like they're doing charity work. If you're not still in it, or can't capture it, you honestly probably wont notice huge differences from your looksmaxxing attempts...
