You've removed yourself from the rat race. You don't have to think about how your looks or other attributes, stacks up against other people. When you're confident enough that other people's words don't bother you anymore.
Not necessarily when you reach a certain looks threshold. Becoming good-looking will make you feel better through the halo effect, but pain and trauma can linger from insecurities if not treated. You have to become comfortable in your own skin, albeit you fulfill basic societal expectations necessary for survive (such as becoming somewhat good-looking, which increases the chances of reproduction).
