Where I'm from in Northern Europe at least 10% of the male population is 6´4" or over. Spain is not THAT much shorter for it to be that rare. In Spain probably 5% of the male population is that height and over. All you need to do is walk in a city and you will see plenty of guys in that range within minutes.

I'd say the female height equivalent to a 6´4" guy is more like 5´11" since the average height difference between the two sexes is more than four inches. 5 inches sounds more accurate. Anyway, whatever the case, a 5´11" woman in Spain is pretty rare, but definitely you will see women that height or taller more than just twice in a whole year! In the Nordic countries 5´11" and taller women are relatively common and don't really stick out too much. You will daily even see women in the 185 cm range.

That's roughly my experience, yes, although Spain is a lot more homogeneous so I guess it depends where you are in the US. In a mostly white, German-descent area in the Midwest people can probably be pretty tall.
