The incidence of sleep wake disorders, abnormal circadian rythms and poor sleep quality is way higher in autists.

That's partially due to too much serotonin, but also because the hypothalamus, an area in the brain responsible for regular sleep - wake patterns is partially broken.

I've suffered from sleep issues since puberty and never got over it, tried every sleeping pill, all doctors were clueless and nobody could help me.

Society is tailored toward normies so of course every job or university will force you to wake up at 7 am.

If you can't do that, well, fuck you, society hates you and doesn't need you because of your subhuman sleep genetics.

most autists can't get jobs because most job interviews are mostly a way too weed out the socially retarded people from the job

that's right

high serotonin is highly correlated with autism and insomnia

Any tips on how to not wake up several times a night? I fall asleep fast again but it still impairs my sleep. I feel like I am not properly sleeping the latter half of the night

Appreciate that bro but unfortunately you can't always control the room temp when it's summer, we don't have AC units in germany

I know a guy with the same problem who started taking extended release melatonin, it's a prescription version that releases slowly throughout the night, but you might feel tired the next day if you take too high a dosage or don't drink caffeije the morming after, he said it works when he drinks caffeine then he is still alert the next day

I would go ask a sleep specialist about it

Very true, chronic insomnia fucked up my life and probably stunted my development during puberty

Melatonin is estrogenic and cortisol inducing, bro

U sure? this says otherwise

"Melatonin and prolactin are induced by stress, and darkness is a stress because it impairs mitochondrial energy production."

In our lab at the University of Oregon, our hamsters would try to hibernate, even though they were in temperature-controlled laboratories with regular cycles of artificial light. (The ceiling lights provided only dim illumination inside their cage boxes, so they were probably in a chronic state of light deprivation, which probably increased their sensitivity to the weak environmental cues that Frank Brown had investigated, possibly microwaves that easily penetrated the lab walls.) During the winter, when they were infertile, I found that their thymus glands practically disappeared. The mechanism seemed to include the increase of pineal gland activity (probably increasing melatonin synthesis) in the winter, under the intensified activity of the “sympathetic nervous system” (with increased activity of adrenalin and other catecholamines), and the melatonin was apparently a signal for suppressing fertility during the stressful winter. In some animals (Shvareva and Nevretdinova, 1989), estrogen is increased during hibernation, contributing to the reduction of body temperature."

In 1994 A.V. Sirotkin found that melatonin inhibits progesterone production but stimulates estrogen production, and it’s widely recognized that melatonin generally inhibits the thyroid hormones, creating an environment in which fertilization, implantation, and development of the embryo are not possible. This combination of high estrogen with low progesterone and low thyroid decreases the resistance of the organism, predisposing it to seizures and excitotoxic damage, and causing the thymus gland to atrophy."

Almost any kind of stress increases the formation of melatonin."

Why do studies always contradict each other, hard to know what to believe

pretty much cope. Autists spend too much time on their phone and that is what fucks their sleep rythmm

I have sleep apnea, AND insomnia. Oh yeah, AND autism.

I’ve seen your face it’s above average
Ok, but you're one person. Doesn't matter. I have sleep apnea and it sucks giant cock. I wish I could rip my eyeballs out of my sockets most days.

Get a CPAP machine
I told my doctor to talk to the people that did my sleep test. He won't do shit. Im thinking of breaking into the medical supply store somehow to steal one. Just because Im so psyched off my ass from not sleeping properly for years on end. I feel desperate and willing to do anything.
