Accutane for nose

Idk if this is a cope or sum but I’ve seen that isotretinoin/Accutane can reduce cartilidge in the nose? I have blackheads and my nose is prone to getting oily anyway however I’ve heard some bad things about Accutane. I do not have acne, just blackheads on my nose but I do wish to make my nose appear a little smaller. Is this a smart idea or am I being autistic? I’ve also read about retin a reducing blackheads but idk if that makes the nose appear any smaller, however if it makes it look better due to the oil + blackhead reduction I’d take it. Lmk plz

Yes. Corticosteroids also good for thinning skin on nose

Blackheads will fall out of your nose while on accutane because the sebaceous gland is getting shrinked/deleted

Yes, it's a known effect of Accutane, but using it for that purpose only is probably not too wise, as it has plenty of side effects (such as depression, hair loss, joint paint etc). Tretinoin (retain a) helps with big clogged pores (doubt you have real blackheads there), but don't think it shrinks your nose as well as isotretinoin. In another thread here, plasma fibroblast skin tightening was suggested. Some users report success with topical steroid (cortisone) creams, as it thins the skin area, but it's quite dangerous.

The thing is that’s the only skin issue I have it seems, apart from the aesthetic effect of making my nose smaller idk if the risk-reward ratio would be worth it due to the side effects, hence why I’m just considering Retin A (idk if that would just be me coping tho)

It made mine bulb a little smaller but it grew back after I started apllying less frequently.

What if I used a low amount of cortisone cream to thin the skin? Would that be less risky? Or would that make it less effective

@Venommm_ Steroid creams are powerful and I'm not sure about long term effects of them, don't know the ideal amount. About why I stopped frequent tretinoin - had too much of skin irritation and redness which didn't come off with time, used 0.05%.

I accumulated 4200mg (took 20mg for 3months and 40mg for 2 months). I think they would have came back no matter the cumulative dose reached, since the inhibition of sebum production effect isn't really permanent and levels return to prior levels after you stop

What do you think about BHA liquids? people have said they help with blackheads/oil and aren't a steroid cream. Also, it allegedly doesn't just remove/reduce blackheads over time but shrinks your pores aswell.

So corticosteroids like Accutane thin the skin which gives the appearance of having a thinner nose but it doesn't actually make your nose thinner and the thinning reverts as soon as you stop applying the drug? Hair loss as a side effect of a face cream/steroid? that seems odd and not worth it. Tretinoin may be the play for me, i have had blackheads on my nose all over for over a decade and my nose gets really oily all the time.

Ive had that AHA+BHA from the ordinary but didnt do shit, I plan on using salicylic acid which I see often recommended for black heads. Otherwise tret does work too not as good as accutane

How long did you use it? i saw a lot of people claiming it does work but you just have to use it for a few months atleast to start seeing changes. Paula's choice BHA includes salicylic acid and i thought all BHA's included it but seems not? Tret works, sure but it's a steroid isn't it? it's going to have side effects since it's obviously much stronger than a regular BHA/AHA liquid. Salicylic acid on its own making a change? i dunno. You can find cheap creams that have this acid and it makes no change to your face so i'm not sure.

Never heard of hair loss as a side effect tbh if your talking about hydrocortisone and I’d stop instantly if I saw any signs of it occurring (accutane I’ve seen some things about hair loss) and how would the thinning revert? I thought the atrophy of skin was permanent

I was referring to Accutane about the hair loss and i do think the thinning will revert once you ceast usage but i can't seem to find any medical journals or anything about this specific issue. One other user did mention that his nose became bigger again once he stopped using Accutane, not sure if the same applies to hydrocortisone but i would think so since they're both corticosteroid creams. I'm not privy to the exact mechanism of how these creams work so i can't be sure. Will do some research on it.
