im 17 years old and id say around 18-20% bf in that range, i have a decent bit of muscle and i would say im around mtn, i weigh 81 kg which ik seems like alot but the lowest ive been and leanest (like 13%) with no muscle i was 72 kg so its not necessarily a weight thing. However im trying to maximize height and facial development and before people start saying, its all genetic nothing will change it, ive starvemaxxed before and when i started eating right my face would always have changes and id grow a bit.

I wanted to know if its still fine to do a 6 week pretty aggressive cut and then do small surplus for the rest of the year or is it not worth the hormone drops and growth deccelarition and just keep doing a small surplus for the year.

if anyone has any other suggestions id like to hear

why would you want to go on an aggressive cut if you plan to go on a calorie surplus right after? if its only to make your face leaner, then i wouldn't do it, because an aggressive cut will likely make you bloated anyways. not only that but it could also make you lose muscle and even interfere with growth if the deficit is too high. this whole thing varies on how much do you optimize your sleep and nutrition.

tbh sleep and nutrition are pretty well optimized, i want to do it to get leaner and look better thats lowk it but also bc i know hormones are better when someone is in the 14-17% range, if i dont do it its not like im a fat chud, i have some ab definition and people always compliment me on my physique but i just wanna mog, however i feel like i might regret it later on bc ill look better by default in 2 years no matter what

also if its not optimal at my age then what age would you recommend i cut and how many cals

if sleep and nutrition is good then most of the hormonal stuff will less likely to be an issue. just don't go too aggressive, igf1 production significantly changes on how much nutrients do you take in. i wouldn't recommend to cut higher than 20 percent of your maintenance calories

then it wouldnt be aggressive, either way my hormones would be somewhat downregulated no matter which deficit, however with a more aggressive approach the downregulation is for less time, though it might be more downregulated then with a moderate deficit, when i eat right after the deficit hormones will likely be baseline in under a month

the reason i recommended 20 percent is because its much easier to get enough nutrition to not have a big impact on igf1, at a higher deficit its becomes much harder, plus it can ruin your sleep and increase cortisol which you don't want when you're trying to maximize growth. so you would be able to get your hormones back to baseline after the cut, but the difference is also much more significant on an aggressive cut

does this also apply if i simply want to prioritize facial development, im alr 5'11 and at 17 i dont have much hope of some crazy growth spurt my mom is 5'5 and my dad is 5'9. nobody on both sides of the fam is really tall either no uncles

You’ll be fine bro. I’d just avoid an aggressive cut. Cutting at a slower pace is fine.
i get that and ive done many normal cuts too, however i usually feel the negative affects within like 3 weeks either way, like regressing on lifts and worse sleep. it doesnt help that in my years 15-16 i spent most time in a deficit

well igf1 is responsible for the facial bones too, but unlike your height, the bones in your face can still change a bit, even after your growth plates are fused

Honestly bro I’d stop stressing. It’s unlikely it has/will make a difference in your development. Unless you were starving yourself to be sub 8% constantly. And yeah cuts are usually shitty your body is biologically driven to not want to lose energy stores or be in an energy defecit for survival.
