Having just obtained a nice 1440p 320 hertz monitor, I decided to boot up Doom 2016 for the first time in nearly 10 years, remembering how much I loved that game during my mid 20s. Now as a 34 year old, I was utterly wrecked, even on the medium difficulty, which I used to find far too easy. My reaction times were horrible, and things happened faster than I could wrap my head around. Just a total shitshow. Fuck getting older. It ruins everything.

Some months ago I was playing Devil May Cry 3 on PCSX2 and I couldn't beat the third bosses (Agni & Rudra), which made me frustrated because when I was a kid I was great at this game and I rarely lost to the bosses, and now I can't beat a fucking boss at the beginning of the game.

I don't know, I am now better than ever at video games at 27yo.

I tried Doom Eternal after five years and I was able to beat some master levels which I had problems with before. Also, I am much better at puzzle games, I don't need to look up solutions like I did before.

i'm 54 and my skills have mostly been the same, but i don't play twitch shooters, i play simulators and strategy games. i don't think i've noticed any degradation, in fact, the older games i used to play seem really simple and stupid, like they're designed for retards. i don't know how people can still play those games when games of higher fidelity simulation and more complex mechanics exist.

Playing in emulator is very easy since you can save and load at any time, which you usually couldn't do on the original console, also you can change the emulation speed at 50%, everything will move in slow-motion and you can easily beat bosses or more difficult levels - I use these tricks for the older GTA games, which are harder than the more recent ones.

Lol, it's very frustrating to play without being able to save anywhere, many missions would require a long drive from one part of the town to another and if you failed, you had to go through that again and again.
