They have never been useful for anything and are privy to a billion different biases, clauses, fallacies etc. With dating especially i don't trust any of them since relying on human beings to be able to recognize and be truthfull about their inner/primal desires is a dangerous gamble as has been demonstrated by many past examples of companies trying to modify their products based on surveys and having them fail miserably. The whole "watch as they do, not as they say" rings true in cases like this. If we were to believe studies that ask women about prefrences we would have to believe women think 5'11 to 6'2 is the ideal height range, that women think brad pitt from fight club is the maximum ammount of muscle mass that is attractive and that women perfer femnizied faces.
