I was talking to Chatgpt regarding my sleep apnea issue when it dropped this bombshell on me:

JawIsLaw

In case the image stops working, you can also read it here:
Me: small jaw cause sleep apnea?

Chatgpt: Yes — a small or recessed jaw (retrognathia/micrognathia) can definitely contribute to obstructive sleep apnea (OSA).

Here’s why:

How the jaw affects the airway

  • The lower jaw anchors the tongue and soft tissues of the throat.
  • If the jaw is small or set back, the tongue sits farther back toward the throat.
  • During sleep, when muscle tone relaxes, the tongue and soft palate can more easily collapse into the airway → leading to apneas or hypopneas.

Signs this might be an issue

  • People with a receded chin or “weak jawline” often have a higher risk.
  • Dental crowding, overbite, or narrow palate can also point to structural airway limitations.
  • OSA may be worse when sleeping on the back (gravity pulls the tongue back further).

How it’s addressed

  • Oral appliances (mandibular advancement devices): These pull the lower jaw forward slightly, opening up the airway. Very effective for mild to moderate OSA when jaw position is the main problem.
  • Orthognathic surgery (jaw advancement): In severe cases, maxillomandibular advancement (MMA) surgery repositions the jaws forward, permanently enlarging the airway. This has one of the highest surgical cure rates for OSA.
  • Other structural treatments: Orthodontic expansion in younger patients can sometimes help if the palate/jaw is very narrow.

SO IN OTHER WORDS, THERE'S A REASON WHY CERTAIN FACIAL FEATURES ARE SEEN AS ATTRACTIVE AND OTHERS AS DISGUSTING. HAVING BAD FACIAL FEATURES E.G WEAK OR RECESSED JAW CAN LITERALLY HARM OR EVEN KILL YOU.

"Muh socially constructed beauty standards! Looks are not objectively good or bad! :soy:"

Meanwhile in real life incels are literally suffocating in their sleep because of their shitty jawline failing to serve its intended anatomical purpose :feelskek:

It is fucking over. Ugly people are just genetic abominations that just simply should never have existed. My sleep issues (and on that note, I also have a deviated septum which I inherited from my ugly mother :feelsgood:) are destroying me and might require multiple surgeries to fix. I'm only 35 and I already feel like I'm in my 60s, ready to give up on life.

Fuck everything.

btw the only other people that need sleep apnea machines are grannies and 300 lb landwhales. That's nature telling you who your looksmatch is when you are recessed

Yeah it’s fucking over, but at least I’ll die by the hands of someone else if I’m in a life threatening situation, and maybe my family can sue the people who fucked my life over :feelsgood:

A lot of it is developmental but the rest is 100% true, beauty signals function and ugliness signlas diesease/poor development.
