and how to tell/measure if your hair is thinning. Can your hair be thinning without you noticing a lot of hair on your pillow or in the shower for example?

You could be diffuse thinning without recession. And vice versa. Or in my case it's both at the same time. And hairloss is a gradual process that takes years you don't just lose all your hair in a short time period (unless severe medical condition or malnourished/deficient)

Not balding, but Go to dermatologist and do trichoscan if you feel you are losing it. It's a gradual process plus, if you have bald dad ask him when he started losing it.

Your scalp becomes a lot more visible under lighting. When you look at your pillow after sleep or if you have a shower you see lots of hair falling.

The friends I had that already have receding hair lines in my uni they told me they were shedding a noticeable amount of hairs in there high school years. Another sign is difficulty with growing out the front part of the hairs. The NW1 pattern forms a distinct receding hairline towrds the front of the hairline. Difficulty with growing out the front part of the hair is a big red flag. Another more subtle sign that is hard to notice but important is compare your rate of hair growth with NWO friends with no balding genetic in there family and your buddy with parents who are bald (thus at risk of male pattern baldness ) rate of hair growth. My balding friends always took a week or so longer to get hair cuts compared to me. We would all get the same haircuts same lengths but yet I would need to get my haircuts sooner.

I highly recommend adding castor oil, 1-2ml/day to your stack to normalize the hair growth rate, it induces massive hair growth and I love it

You do need fin or dut tho

Most practical way is to monitor for any clearly visible movement of your hairline. If you catch it before significant recession or Crown balding.

If you have the money there are checkups you can do every few months where a dermatologist puts your head under a microscope and monitors the progress with data

Maybe that is accurate, "diffuse thinning"
whenever light shines over my scalp the front on my hairline has always looked a little thinner than the rest it's just always looked like that but within the last couple weeks I've noticed I can see the scalp a lot more and I don't know if I'm being paranoid

My hair genetics thankfully are very good. My dad is 64 and is only NW1. His hair didn't turn grey till late 50's. My mom's side though has balding prevalent. All her brothers are bald as fuck but I haven't had any issues with hair loss at all. Not even shedding. Fin/Dut would be the key thing for hair loss prevention. RU58411 was another interesting hairless prevention compound I read that can also work as an alternative to Fin/Dut

You can order RU-58841 if you experience side effects from Fin/Dut and want something else to give a shot.

If you are young then you refer to my post. Detecting hair loss as a teen is hard unless you look for specific things and really pay attention.

From what I've been reading as much as scientists say it's "genetic" they still don't completely understand why guys go bald or how the inheritance of the DHT sensitive receptors works. Maybe someone here can shed some light on this

Right now I have thick hair and I'm 20, is there something I can do to make sure I maintain my hair for as long as possible, without side effects hopefully?
Like scalp massages, Nizoral, castor oil? Or is it cope?

Idk, but I know that when it happens, it happens fast. I literally LOL at the people who scream steroids whenever a semi-buff guy randomly just lose his hair relatievly quickly. Same EXACT thing happened to me, and I'm not on roids. Out of NOWHERE the norwood reaper goes ALL-IN for the kill.

It will be. HIT or MISS. For you.
Is my expereince and observations.

To add. In my family it's also half/half.
My mother side, there was no/limited balding.|
My fathers side, there was alot of balding going on.

Now as of today. (I 37, and my brothers in their 40's).
1. oldest broither; Full head of hair, alot. Norwood 0
2. middle brother; bald basically, noorwood 5/6
3. I. Full head of hair untill early 30's. From early 30's untill last year, it started thinning a bit and when to norwood 1. I started half a year ago with finastride (0.25 gr) and minox out of preserving what got. My hair got a little bit thicker again because of it. Now norwood 0.75/0.5 orso. Most improved on more hairs, thius now thicker hair again.

castor oil is a little bit of cope.
Diluted peppermint oil, actually does what we hope castor oild would do. Peppermint oil is like castor oil on steroids. Peppermint oil won't grow hairs that are not there. But the hairs that are there, they will grow 2x as fast and 2x longer. My experience at least

I meant oral castor oil, not topical

Isn't castor oil a meme for hair growth? I read that peppermint is way better
