But now that I think about it I saw an even more severe pattern of ugliness in wards with legitimately psychotic people. I have no real evidence for it but due to anecdotal evidence I believe genetics for schizophrenia/psychosis are linked with poor looks

Yeah I have a porn addiction and also had a really brutal video game addiction (I would throw tantrums and break shit if I couldn’t play or bring games with me, was constantly aggressive) and binge eating problem during high school. Only other thing I almost got addicted to was Valium

I used to have weird obsessions to the point where I was out of touch with reality. looking back I can't believe I was like. grateful for having my brother and sister around to help me because they were the only ones that really cared along with two friends and my ex. doing drugs actually helped my situation along with being around marine animals. one of the most calming things I've done in my life was volunteer with whale sharks for a month and going to the arctic for 3 weeks to volunteer with polar bears. really opened my eyes to what's out there.

Yeah the special care units in mental hospitals are for people in active psychosis or who can’t be trusted on their own or even with another person in other sections. Other severe wards are in public hospitals.
