Bimax is a overrated and a overhyped surgery for most people

My teeth are too crooked/crowded
I see. I guess I don't know enough about what qualifies someone for 'surgery first'.
In my mind i'm a candidate because I feel like both my jaws need to be moved forward like a cm and then braces to do the rest, but I guess i'm massively over-simplifying it lol. I know the odds are low that I would be a candidate statistically.

From my understanding it's largely about the state of your teeth/how bad your current bite is. Truly bad bites that haven't had any orthodontic treatment, with crooked/crowded teeth aren't a candidate for surgery first.

I wonder why. In my head if you move your jaws forward by the same amount each then your bite is exactly as it was before, then you can get braces to fix your bite! I guess not though. And yeah, from what you say, it's basically a certainty that I wouldn't qualify either.

Tbh Idk though, different surgeons might say different things. Only way to know is by speaking to them and see what they say. This shit is stressful though.

The thing is that bimax movement are not 100% accurate, so the bite will not land exactly where its planned. If you go to insurance doctor he will say its a succes if its within 2-4 mm( i am not kidding, this is even a rule for a "failed bimax according to studies lol") if you go to a good surgeon he will be within 1-2 mm, peobably less then 1. But this small diffrence if you have crooked teeth then your bite might land weird on some teeth which creates a instability. many bimax cases needs bands or elastics to keep bite together for the first few weeks, but if it is terribly wrong occlusion this wouldnt work, especially crooked teeth. And without the bands and elastics the bite may shift and stay there

He said he has friends in London but yeah, I have no idea what kind of prices those orthodontists charge. I believe from my understanding that you don't need to go there at all until the actual surgery, he will request you to get scans and be sent to him etc and from those will do the surgical plan. Surgery first is not an option for me so I have to deal with this orthodontics for a year/never seeing him in person for the whole time my teeth are moving and hope I don't get botched on the day of.
The only bad thing is that the orthos he is contact with is often international and not necessarily the best. And they usually more expensive. But you can allways find a prtho yourself and tell him to be in Contact with him, but the ortho need to have some experince in bimax cases and also know the technical tools

Many people have recessed but wide jaws from the front like marlon, its just that jaw implants look uncanny because its hard to get natural shape. It doesnt mean it will look better just because you do bimax aswell. And harmony is just to fix failos, but some people have ratios that cant be fixed so they will never have harmony ever.

Also this forum only think in bone replacing surgeries when the soft tissue is more important. And thats often why people look crap, shit lips and just dog skin is common failos here that people just throw under the rug
Don't take @kingofkings seriously he's a troll

Regarding the Italian surgeons working with UK orthos, the three big Italian names have orthos in and around London that they work with regularly. The cost varies between the orthos.

Flying to Italy for a consultation isn’t compulsory unless you’re going with Raffaini. Often times international patients only meet the surgeon for the first time the week of the surgery.

Its better to see the surgeon if you do it for aesthetics. Both the italian surgeons change their plan when they saw me irl. And both said its much better to be seen irl so they can see the soft tissue etc. Weirdly enough, raffaini actually have reason on why he want irl consultations, its litteraly easier for them to only have online but he is aesthetic focuesed and knows the importance of seeing the person irl. If you pay and 25k and only go there on surgery date i kinda feel bad

So after an online consultation and getting braces fitted, it's a good idea to go there in person for them to see you way before the surgery date?

Ideally you want to go there first, but yea you should see them and discuss the plan in person when they see your face infront of them and also take photos of you irl. Its ridiculous if you dont do it. And yes many surgeons because they want customer want say it as demand because they know they would lose customers from it. But if you yourself pay 25 k and dont let the surgeonnsee your face in person and see what kind of soft features you have then you are a idiot. Ofc its eazy to plan thru ct scan only but there are def consideration in the plan that have value if they see you in person.

True tbf, it would only be going to Rome for 1-2 days right? travel costs would be cheap from EU

Most people dont ascend much from it if you dont look deformed before. And if you are deformed you will look normal after at best.

Real lookmaxxing surgeries for jaw is implants or leforte 2/3. Bimax is good for function but for looks its just meh, it wont do shit for front either except again you are a deformed sfs face or long face.

Bimax is at the bottom of surgeries for an actual ascension for 99.999999% of people. Implants, rhino, genio, fat graft, bleph, cantho, deep plane face lift, hyiod glossing(hyiod raising surgery) is worth ten times then bimax for most people

Also considering the risks with bimax as one of the most recommended surgeons on this site has litteraly had 6+ botches this year alone shows how shitty of surgery bimax is if we talk about risk and reward for the none deformed
bimax is good when you get it for free?

Yeah I definitely agree it’s best to meet the surgeon for a consult before planning begins, but a surprising amount of people don’t do this. I met all the surgeons I considered going with other than a US based one. The Italians picked up on things in person that they didn’t pick up on over the initial video call.

At the end of the day, it’s a big risk financially, physically, and emotionally to agree to let a guy you’ve never met rearrange your anatomy. The vibe check in person is also important. Still, meeting for the first time the week of surgery has worked for many patients. I just couldn’t take that risk.
