Whats up, first post here.
I have TMD popping, a recessed jaw, and a narrow airway. A recent sports physical showed my breathing capacity (FVC) is only 70% of predicted—my doctor even said it’s comparable to an Asian
. I’m convinced my jaw is the bottleneck for my breathing and aesthetic .
I went to the dentist to see about surgery approval. She was skeptical and asked if this was just for aesthetics, I just said no and repeated jaw pain, dry mouth, and breathing issues. After some convincing, I successfully secured a referral to a gnathologist.
Even if the Bimax is insured, I’m planning on Invisalign (about €2,000–€3,000) since braces aren't covered. If you’re in the Netherlands with a recessed jaw and popping, this might be enough to get approved.
Any advice on what to communicate to the gnathologist? I have the appointment soon
I'll let you guys know how it goes.
