(Bimax) Jaw surgery Potentially covered by insurance

Whats up, first post here.

I have TMD popping, a recessed jaw, and a narrow airway. A recent sports physical showed my breathing capacity (FVC) is only 70% of predicted—my doctor even said it’s comparable to an Asian . I’m convinced my jaw is the bottleneck for my breathing and aesthetic .

I went to the dentist to see about surgery approval. She was skeptical and asked if this was just for aesthetics, I just said no and repeated jaw pain, dry mouth, and breathing issues. After some convincing, I successfully secured a referral to a gnathologist.

Even if the Bimax is insured, I’m planning on Invisalign (about €2,000–€3,000) since braces aren't covered. If you’re in the Netherlands with a recessed jaw and popping, this might be enough to get approved.

Any advice on what to communicate to the gnathologist? I have the appointment soon

If it's payed by the government/insurance, my advice would be to act clueless about jaw movements. Just tell the surgeon that you are a bit concerned about aesthetics, that is enough.

You gotta ask him later to explain the movements that he wants him to preform, don't try asking for specific movements.

It's general advice because most surgeons don't like arrogant patients who are coming from Internet forums. they get mad over looksmaxers because it's meant to be functional surgery, not plastic surgery. There are some exceptions tho, for surgeons who would be totally fine with it

I will just be honest besides the aesthetic part and say I am reasonably concerned cause i don't wanna look worse, something like that

infraorbital rim implants
and either aqualix or buccal fat removal
and fatgrafting for less uee
fixing acne obviously

Only need to make plans for fixing my thyroid

ig you dont need anything really but im getting a bit of an obsession

Ive been 8% before for boxing and still have chubby cheeks
plus my midface is simply recesses

The thing with taxes is i have my own small business so i can just ask for a delay to pay them and move the problem to next year
