My mum drove over an hour early this morning to surprise me for my 18th.

I felt no enjoyment or happiness, all I felt in that moment that I saw her, was anger.

I'm not sure why I felt this way, it certainly wasn't anything to do with the heightened emotions of today's occasion, although it most likely amplified the root cause.

She brought me presents, which she wanted me to open in front of her but I refused, I saw the upset look on her face.

She took selfies and I couldn't even smile, she caught the whole 'surprise' moment on video, as I don't see her often due to living in a boarding school.

I feel like such a shit person, I feel as though i've ruined my mums day and ruined the entire moment, yet still choose to ignore her texts and refuse to open the gifts.

It's pretty difficult to go home on weekends as home is far away.
