Brutal balding/diffuse thinning at only 17 HELP NEEDED

Don’t use fin, use dut if you’re planning at even using 5ARi at the first place
Ok ok but first pls answer my question regarding whether it’s ok if i start with minoxidil first before DHT blockers? Or do i have to start it all at the same time

It doesn’t really matter, just start the minoxidil whenever.

So would you say it’s a smart idea if I just start applying minoxidil now, and later down the line once I’m maybe 20 or smthn I start taking finasteride as well? Or do i have to start both at the same time
Yes, it's a good idea but minoxidil can only do so much. I would 100% wait until 20 or something like you said to start taking finasteride. You're far too young to be eliminating around 70% of your DHT. Also be careful about choosing finasteride over dutasteride later on. Oral dutasteride absolutely nukes your DHT and can fuck you up. Finasteride is very effective as it is. If you're ever going to use dutasteride just use the topical version. You don't wanna take oral dutasteride imo.

You realize that duta has the same side effect profile as fina, right?

What do you mean dut will fuck you up?

Also topical dut goes systemic anyway, might as well just use the oral one.

Use RU and maybe topical minoxidil as your only topicals imo

How does topical dut go systemic?

Of course it will have the same side effect profile, but dutasteride will nuke your DHT whereas finasteride will only eliminate around 70% of it from what I remember. Finasteride isn't the nuclear option like dutasteride is. That's why dutasteride is used as a last resort sort of option. If finasteride and dutasteride did the same thing in terms of how much DHT it inhibits, people would suggest you just use finasteride/either or.

How does topical dut go systemic?
The scalp skin isn’t a very strong barrier so dut molecules can penetrate the epidermis and dermis hence going systemic in your blood. It won’t be as potent as oral dut tho, it will block like 20-40% as far as I remember, so you might as well just take fin atp
Of course it will have the same side effect profile
its not obvious at all. Most people think that dut is far stronger in side effects than fin while it’s the opposite somehow

you know that after a certain amount of DHT is blocked the side effects it can cause (from low DHT) are platue, meaning that if you blocked 70% with fin, blocking 90% of DHT with dut won’t change much if at all

I've read studies on r/tressless for a while but I will admit I know more about finasteride than I do about dutasteride. Is there a study that shows it is only about 20-40% effective?

I don't know if I agree that the side effects plateau after a certain point. I think that there is actually a big difference between blocking 70% and 90%

His development is not completely done, you don't know what you're talking about. The face remodels? growing 2cm in early 20s? face becoming maturer/more developed? You have no education, stay in school kiddo. This forum has basically just become a bunch of teenagers/20 year olds in a competition of who read chatgpt/wikipedia/pubmed better.
Im in med school. Periosteal apposition happens but in his case, i would bet my life that his longitudinal growth is finished.

He will masculinise still through soft tissue adaptation. For now hes a high t high e ball, which is fine. Lying isnt.

He wont „mature“ more. Thats done.

I meant that it blocks 20-40% of DHT, but I guess it’s the same thing tbh…

my bad, it’s not 20-40%:

This study showed topical dut blocked 11% of systemic Dht

In this study it showed topical dut blocked approximately 21% of your systemic Dht

https://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/pii/S0378517320306931
This study found that Dht was decreased by 19%

So yeah it does go systemic but it doesn’t inhibit more than 30% of systemic DHT. Regardless, no reason to use Topical dut when you have RU tbh, even tho topical dut is very potent to the scalp.

Well done on finding the references, they seem interesting. I will read them right now.

I got a blood test booked for the 20th of October. Can i start minoxidil from tomorrow? Or will it tamper with the blood test

Don’t worry it won’t do anything, you can start from tomorrow if you wish
