I think theres a set limit to how wide it can be
at one point your tongue would fit in completely so it wont get wider

Yes that's what i thought too but i wanted to be sure
So i guess that once this limit is reached MSE/thumbpulling or any other palatal expansion method would be ineffective

i think so
with people who's palates are too wide their teeth end up diverging from one another, so you'll start to see teeth gaps
essentially your palate (maxilla) and most likely mandible are too large for your teeth and therefore improper spacing occurs
