Side delt doesn’t get activated during chest movements, only front delt. So yes, you can train side delt before chest.

They target the side delt, yes. Maybe there is a little front delt activation idk but you should not be “feeling it” in your front delt. And definitely not “feeling it” to the extent to which it will impair your performance on chest movements.lateral raises primarily target the lateral (side) deltoid muscles, they also engage the anterior (front) deltoids, along with other supporting muscles.
