I am currently trying to lose fat and going on a calorie deficit, and Ive heard that gaining muscle isn't calorie dependent but ive also heard that if you cut too much you'll lose gains. If its not calorie dependent then as long as i get my protien and hit the gym I should lose any muscle but build it or am i wrong in my thinking?

yes you can and I've done it. when I did my first cut last year I was living on 1800 cals a day and eating nothing but tilapia, potatoes, nonfat yogurt and zero sugar root beer (Barq's) and I didn't lose any strength.

You can do Body Recomposition. If you have a ton of fat to lose, you can hop on a Deficit and lose fat and gain muscle at the same time IF

1. You don't drop your calories too hard. 500kcal at most is probably smart.
2. You get enough protein so you can spare and build muscle. 1g per pound of BW is probably smart.

while directly you can't because of the difference of the cells as you shown above, stored fat provides energy when you’re in a calorie deficit, it's essential for producing testosterone and there is a small amount of fat stored inside muscles (intramuscular triglycerides), but this is fuel, not structural material tho. So it provides energy and support for muscle growing hormones which will help you build muscles, aka my statement that it's partly build from fat is not entirely wrong, but not entirely right too. sorry if it was misunderstood

make sure to hit your daily protein goal everyday and stay consistent in your lifts and you shouldn't lose any muscle, also make sure your deficit is only 200-300 cals it will allow you to lose little fat overtime, though it will take longer to cut its worth it for sure

yes as long ur eating enough protein. (0.8-1) gram for every pound u weigh) but u wont gain as much as eating normally

not possible to my knowledge, try losing all your fat first then do a clean bulk

you obviously cant gain in a deficit and when you said you werent in a deficit before you most likely were, try eating lots of healthy carbs

Yes you can, especially if you still have noobie gains

To maximize the chance do the following
Minimum 7.5 hours of sleep
Atleast 2g or protien per kg of bw
Resistance train hard
Mark as solution
