clicking behind ear where ramus starts when doing hyoid bone excercise

i get a clicking noise when doing the suprahyoid bone excercises like fast jaw opening and the one where you put pressure with your hands when opening jaw but i can avoid it by not tensing jaw and slowly closing mouth. should i stop bc tmj or just do it.

Don't do the jaw-opening exercise, it doesn't work (tried it for a while myself consistently) and it'll probably give you TMJ if you keep doing it.
