In each country, the dating capitals are respectively the big cities. This is where the young move to when they have to study, and where the old move away from when they want a slower paced life. In the big cities there are money to be gained and love to be found.
Particularly love is interesting to look at. Back in my grandma and grandpa’s days, you didn’t really pay it any mind how you found your spouse. Then the internet came and you began to be shunned if you met the love of your life through a phone screen. Oh well…
It has become increasingly popular in dating discourse to want a ‘cute-meet’ which is when you meet a partner the old-fashioned way like your grandma and grandpa did. This then brings me to the title of the column.
Back in the year 2000, there were approximately 2600 nightclubs open in all of England, Scotland and Wales. People were buzzing to go out after a long hard week and party. Today that number is less than 1200 only 20 years later.
There has been a starch decrease in the number of nightclubs, pubs and other avenues in which people socialise after work. The reason is quite simple; there is no money in circulation. Businesses cannot afford to go without customers but they have to up their pricing which means that customers can’t afford to go out because the majority live pay-check to pay-check. The economy is literally sucking the life out of the party.
And this phenom isn’t only happening in England. The cost of living crisis is sucking the life out of the party all across the major cities in Europe and North America.
The lack of places to socialise and find love is a direct result of the lack of money that is in circulation.
