Complete Guide to PSL ratings

What are PSL RATINGS?

PSL ratings were created as a way of being able to determine ones aesthetic value and applying beauty standards to a rating system, based on solely their face. The central idea behind PSL ratings is not purely finding ones SMV/appeal, but it can be better described as giving objective ratings based on Facial Harmony, Balance, Symmetry, Sexual Dimorphism, Unique qualities, and averageness.

Do PSL apply to real life attractiveness?

This is a controversial question, and it comes with a controversial answer. The truth is that there is always some subjectivity involved in all attractiveness, and many people in real life may find faces with better facial averageness more attractive than polarizing and unique modelesque faces. PSL ratings are not appeal ratings, they are merely for giving unbiased opinions on facial attractiveness. In actuality, many women may find men in the 6-7 PSL range more sexually attractive than men in the 7-8 PSL range. But PSL is still an overall decent way of determining where you stand on a beauty scale.

The PSL scale is highly flawed

Determining ones entire attractiveness based on a single number is quite a tricky concept when you think about it. It really struggles to do some people justice. Can you simply give people a numerical rating and expect it to entirely define their beauty? Well yes and no. It seems very improbable that a person’s aesthetics can be determined solely by a numerical rating, but PSL is not a perfect system. It has its flaws, but there is in fact science behind what is considered attractive and what features are ideal. PSL ratings are a good general way to classify who comes closest to the scientific ideal.

How does PSL correspond with real life?

According to standard deviation PSL ratings can best be compared to the general population like this:

PSL 4 is equivalent to 50%

PSL 5 is equivalent to 84.15%

PSL 6 is equivalent to 97.25%

PSL 7 is equivalent to 99.87%

PSL 8 is equivalent to 99.9968%

But this truly how the rating system works? In a way it is, but according to that there would be 3 out of 100,000 people who are 8 PSL, which is simply not the truth. 8 PSL is human perfection, which is impossible to achieve. In actuality 7+ PSL ratings are even rarer then described as well in the above percentiles as well. The majority of people fall anywhere from 3.5-4.5 on the PSL scale.

This is the start of a model tier rating. Many famous actors and models fall into this category. Great facial harmony is required for this rating, and sexually dimorphic features as well as classically handsome faces will fall into this range. There may be one or two small failo’s or aspects that aren’t top tier, but they will not detract from the overall aesthetic of the face that much.

The people who fall in this range will be considered ugly by the entirety of the population and extremely undesirable. Their faces will have little to no harmony, and every single feature will be poor and unaesthetic. The people who fall in the upper part of this range( 1.5-2) are people who have immensely unappealing faces and uncanny features. The people who fall in the lower part of this range(1.5 and under) will have extreme deformities.
