Im kind of a late puberty, im 17 and grew a 1.5 inches in the past 6 months so i know my plates are still open, but im also trying to be lean but im worried calorie decfiet or something might stunt me, should i hold off till im done growing or is it safe to do ?

If youre in puberty, your growth plates are still open and youre in a caloric deficit then yeah absolutely thats common sense. Thats also why people from poorly developed countries with restricted access to high quality amounts of food are on average less taller than people in the first world (of course genetics matter but if you're not giving your body the right building blocks in the growth phase it wont develop as good).

Im not a primalcel but Animal protein consumption shows a strong positive correlation with increased human height, particularly during childhood and adolescence, since it provides essential amino acids for bone and tissue development. So definitly dont jump into a caloric deficit if youre still growing, ive made that mistake a few times when i was 16/17, so i did not grow much past that age.

Yeah np you can leanmaxx if youre older. If you want to look sort of leaner right now, building muscle can acctually help a bit. Since if you build muscle, your body fat percentage goes down since your muscle mass goes up (ofc you wont lose fat but relatively speaking you will have "less" fat in your body in relation to your overall weight . Resistance training also sends a signal to your body to use the calories you eat to build muscle tissue rather than store fat. It also naturally boosts hormones that are great for growth (but probably not enough to make a difference though).

Reference range growth is usually 4 inches in a year so you're almost done. Facial bones are still developing however, so, don't fuck with your hormones now. Compounds are okay to use however

Just do a small calorie deficit dont starve yourself but i think calorie surplus is better for puberty
