Could genioplasty accomplish the same goal as braces?

Lets say you have a misaligned bite where your top teeth are farther than your lower ones because your chin is slightly recessed. Could genioplasty , moving the chin forward, fix that without the need for braces? If so, I'm fucked, cause that is basically my issue, except my orthodontist gave me braces (had them for a year now)

No because genioplasty does not change your teeth you need bimax

genio only affects the lower area of your chin under your teeth

Interesting. So if I were to get bimax after my braces treatment is done to fix my recessed chin, the braces would have been an unnecessary extra cost?

no because you need to get braces before bimax anyway. Be wary rubber bands will recess your maxilla tho
