Do you guys think DEI for college admissions are good?

I personally have some mixed opinions on this. It used to irritate me that POC had certain biases in the college admission system, typically in their favor. Obviously there is nothing a black person cant do that a white person can, nowadays, but the effects of racism in the past still have some roots today. A big one being redlining.

I think that when college admissions look at someone’s income, household, and ancestry, and can determine they’ve been put in disadvantageous positions, I don’t see the problem in some lenience. I don’t think it should be the difference of someone with a 24 ACT vs 35 ACT, but maybe some factors like extracurriculars, or maybe a slightly lower threshold in scores. Let me know

DEI is accepting people who have less credentials/value than others solely based on their race and ethnic background.

but, then again, if someone had to work a full time job in high school, then they should drop out of HS to work full time.

Full time would imply that they didn't have time to even study or do any classwork, why would there be leniency showed toward this person? they have nothing to prove that they're worthy of being accepted to a top college.

+ they should just go to community college since they're most likely not rich enough to afford tuition, and scholarships don't cover everything.

and getting a 36 ACT really isn't that hard if you just practice, unless, of course there's an IQ gap between the test taker and others - and if there is, they still shouldn't be given the opportunity.

Rich kids from suburbs have had the blueprint they followed for the college admissions system. They’ve had people tell them what to do and to do it. i think if a kid is smart enough then he has more than enough resources around him to be successful in the college system, even while being dirt fucking poor.

or if a kid is motivated enough. regardless, if ur going to make that argument, then why give the kid that has less opportunities and resources from the beginning a better chance in going into college than someone who knows exactly what they want to do with their lives, is hard working, etc. looking past the fact that they're rich.
