Does anyone here of the belief that fate is real, or that our actions have no impact in the grand scheme of life?

Do you believe you were born ugly cos it was dictated so, that perhaps it was a punishment for the wrongdoings of our past lives??

or do people believe that we have free autonomy over our lives, that perhaps due to genetics and environment is what caused it rather than an divine intervention??

Just curious

They both matter, your genetics and environment act like a force that send you on a certain path, but you can also partially influence it through your actions.
There are people with a great degree of will power who managed to conquer their environment and lousy genetics for example. Most of the people however with little will power drift through life automatically but if they have good genes and good environment, they can easily thrive. For others with less fortunate circumstance it's pretty much over...
Genetics can trump the environment in many cases, there are people who are born in good families, have a lot of money, but if their genetic disposition is to be a loser, they will spend all the money, become addicted to drugs and other stuff and end up at the bottom eventually. You can see this very often in people who win the lottery - most people who play are losers and after a few years they end up exactly where they were first, it was just not in their genes to be rich.
Others start at the bottom, but their genetic disposition sends them upward, they are ambitious, work hard, they keep going up and up. Random events like an accident, being sent to prison, going bankrupt, etc. are just temporary hiccups, they recover from them and keep going and eventually win at life.

so you think that its a bit of both?? interesting

I guess it kinda depends tbh, like environment can shape a person in terms of personality, tendencies and will power, cos nowadays there are things like plastic surgery that are cheat codes in turning around genetic recombination, and as long as you have the required intelligence which is also nurtered, anything is possible imo, but genes can also have like a hidden function in all this

So do you believe that fate is the driving force in this, that it was simply not meant to be, rather than they were just greedy as mf's who didnt know the concept of budgeting? interesting

So overall, do you believe that genetics and fate is what allow people to furthur their ambition rather than their actions?

Not like that but god is unfair

I think fate is real to some extent, like I think we all have a path but it isn’t sealed in any way but highly flexible and we can change it by the decisions we take

but do you believe there are certain checkpoints/paths that are unavoidable (e.g getting into/faling to get into college?)

Yes I believe that somethings are unavoidable in each persons life, there’s been numerous times where I’ve moved a few feet from something and if I would have been in that spot for a few more seconds I would have been dead.

when I applied for university I had to do an entry exam, everyone I knew was studying every day to pass the test and I didn’t spend a single day studying, and when I did the exam I passed it, I think it was unavoidable for me to get into university and it’s going to be unavoidable for me to drop out soon.

The fact you were born ugly is simply due to genetics. You couldn’t have been born as someone else or something else, it’s impossible. You are a product of your parents, you were produced in your mommy’s belly and that is how you became you
