A hypothetical question is basically a "what if..." style question. Without the ability to understand the concept of hypotheticals, it's basically impossible to think for yourself. Yet, a horrifying number of people can't think in terms of hypotheticals and will only understand what is happening right in front of them. Anybody who isn't NPC has had a scenario or situation where they try to explain a hypothetical concept or idea to an NPC only to be met with either a blank face or some retarded answer like "that would never happen blah blah" because they don't understand abstract reasoning.
Not understanding hypothetical questions = dead giveaway of NPCism.
