Started Finasteride on 06/03/2026
I have no family history besides maybe my mother's two uncles that have MPB but, my mom does have fine hair and she's the only one out of all her sisters (6) with fine curly hair. Father is full of hair at 45 with a hairline intact and I am currently balding from crown to frontal region, it honestly isn't terrible but it isn't as dense as the back of my head which causes my hair to look flat from the top and extremely frizzy. I have minor temporal recession as well.
I was going insane at the fact that I am the only male in my family (cousins and siblings) that is balding, luck of the draw I guess.
These are my updates currently:
(06/10): On Finasteride + Minoxidil. No visible hair changes yet. Noticeable mood impact: lower motivation, increased irritability. Libido unchanged or possibly stronger, no erectile issues. Sleep has been poor — falling asleep around 4am, up at 11am for work. Overall tolerating the meds well except for the mood effects. I’ve also noticed that within three hours of taking my Fin dose. My ejaculation amount is usually lower than usual. After those three hours preferably like around 12 hours (after the dose) my semen ejaculation amount is usually a lot more or back to normal.

It’s been 24 days since i started Finasteride and most of the side effects i was feeling in the first two weeks have diminished. I no longer feel any mood swings or decreased motivation. I fixed my sleep schedule which helped my mood considerably. Libido still pretty strong or what it was before, no signs of ED or low sperm count (liquid-y cum). I haven’t been as irritable as i was when I first started Finasteride. I’ve been derma stamping and using topical minoxidil with a RU blend EOD usually every three days. Haven’t really had any negative side effects. The Minoxidil/RU blend I have been has caused a lot of my hair to shed and everyday in the shower I feel like I lose a thousand strands of hair, I knew shedding was going to be bad but holy fuck.
Now my questions are for people that have been on Finasteride or Minoxidil:
- How long did it take for you to see visible changes regarding your hair?
- What side effects have you ran into with long term use of Finasteride?
- Any mood changes with Finasteride?
- Is anyone taking Fin and Dut? I know it's useless since Dut is a >90% DHT but, I have heard some people taking Dut EOD to not completely nuke their DHT.
