Back in June I posted that I'd had a vasectomy procedure done and joked that we'd soon be having "all the sex we want". A few people commented that I should post an update in a few months, so here it is!
The short story is, nothing much has changed, and it's been business as usual. Some folks thought that going off birth control could potentially have a positive effect on my wife's libido, but it hasn't really been the case. If anything, her going back to having periods has further restricted the number of viable "sex days" in a given month. On an ironic note, we have not had sex a single time since I got my "all clear" results from the doc over a month ago.
To reiterate what I wrote in my earlier post, I had no expectation of the vasectomy improving our sex life. It was not in my future plans to father children, so that was the primary reason for the decision. That said, any improvement on our sex life would've been a welcome bonus!
If there's a lesson to be learned it's this: Men, if you're thinking of getting a vasectomy, make sure you do it for the right reasons, and not just because you hope it'll fix the DB. I have no regrets, but I've seen some here do it for the wrong reasons and regret it later.
