If you start off as a skinny twink you’ve got a long way to go.

First 6 months to a year you will barely build any actual muscle because your CNS is getting used to the stress you’re putting on it (happens to all beginners)

Still, after that adjustment occurs, you probably did a lot of shit wrong, and you probably will continue to do the wrong shit for the next 1-3 years of lifting and waste a lot of time (related to diet, exercise methods, sleep).

once you actually correct your mistakes you will start to notice a slight accrual of muscle mass.

Still, nobody will be able to tell you lift while you’re wearing a shirt.

It’s not until another 1-2 more years of lifting where people can actually tell you lift, but not in a good way. You look like shit because you focused/got strong at the wrong exercises - (squat bench deadlift) and ignored/neglected the important ones (incline bench, ohp, weighted pull-ups, rear delt/lateral delt stuff). All your muscle is now in your lower chest and hips making you look like a woman (hourglass)

You start to realize this and correct your mistakes. You stop doing bullshit exercises and start doing the shit that actually matters. After 6 months your body finally begins to form a v taper.

It’s not until another 1-2 years after that where you actually have a noticeable v taper (in clothes)

This end result is assuming your bone structure isn’t absolute dogshit. You will also need high testosterone levels to not only motivate you through your failures, but also to actually build the muscle and continually get stronger.

most people never realize the proper way to lift to get a good body since most of the internet is filled with mentally ill bodybuilder ogres who push the idea that bigger is better. They will tell you to “get strong at the big 3” to have a good body or to “get strong at squats and you will have big biceps”. They also tell you that you should want the “x taper” which is the same thing as the v taper but also with huge legs (only appealing to gymcels).

We’ll tbh all I really care for is getting lean rn but yeah

I’ve been going to the gym on and off since 15 I’m 17

I’m actually gonna stay disciplined though after I lean down to abs, then I’ll bulk up

If I bulk up now imma just get fat as fuck and have to cut again anyways

the important ones (incline bench, ohp, weighted pull-ups, rear delt/lateral delt stuff).
This is literally so true. Also do neck curls (front, back and sides), forearm exercises and some abs and you're good.

True, I train my legs properly with leg press and leg curls. No more fucking up by back and joints with heavy squat.

Agreed, and OP is clueless and doesn't know how to train properly. What about all the videos you see online from skinny to gym body in one year? All fake? Lmao, just get your diet and training right with proper sleep, then you will get those gains. Diet is essential. If want to be more sure, then hire a personal trainer whose job is to make you get gains.

If you have bad muscle gaining genes you will need to do a cycle of enhancers after a year or so. Don't do it more than one cycle though in my opinion.

This is so real.

I've been on and off lifting since 2018 and still don't look like I lift because I never buckled down and took diet and routine seriously. I'd also take several months long breaks randomly.

My advice is do PPL, don't squat, bench, or deadlift these are meme exercises, make sure to sleep 8 hours a night, and make sure you eat at least 120g protein per day. Do these things consistently and you'll mog most lifetime lifters within 1 year.

For hypertrophy bench is not a meme, in terms of EMG data it is the best chest exercise and should be periodized throughout weeks with the DB bench (the only other chest exercise that can be progressively overloaded to the scale of barbell bench). But yeah squat and deadlifts are a meme as stability and low back and form inhibit the max load on your flutes hamstrings and calves. Hack squat and deep but no low back rounded leg presses mog

or just do the @Arborist routine :feelsez:

I do incline dumbbell press and hammer strength chest press machine. Flat bench is a meme since most of chest aesthetics comes from upper chest, flat doesn't target that.

Also you don't need a spotter with dumbbell incline bench, you do for regular bench unless you want to die.

This is cope it took me 1 year to build an above average physique

ive gotten complimented least 20 times at how big ive gotten and how suprised they are when they see me.

If your consistent in food sleep and training you are guaranteed to gain
