Paris is so overrated, I have no desire to go to Japan but I would pick that over anywhere in France.

I used to live on an island very close to France so I went to Paris a few times, it is grim and too many tourists. The Eiffel tower wasn't spectacular too especially if you visit it during the day. You are going in a summer month so I guess it's not that bad
