also if you just want to make money, real estate. Still a very stable and profitable market. But you need a decent amount of starting money to get in, as well as good networking skills

idk if I like comp sci. I feel like with most careers you don't know until you already have a degree, as it takes a while to really know and apply subject matter. That's why I don't like college. But its try and fail for most things in this world anyway tbh. I've always been interested in physics, specifically time travel and electromagnetic propulsion/space travel stuff

you need a phd to get anywhere in phys though, that's the issue. maybe ill do engineering and CS, and then whatever masters I want I can go from there? idk tbh, the choices are too damn hard. wish I knew what would be best. every friend I talk to just wants a "high paying job and stable career." Me though? Fuck that. I want a job that has limitless possibilities, I don't care about $ as long as I'm financially stable/comfortable (~100k/yr). I want a job that leaves a mark on the world when I die, something that helps contribute to the advancement of the human race. No one else seems to share that goal though. Just an easy, high paying job to pursue hedonism for the rest, it seems.

19, freshman at a fairly good and large university. Finances are not an issue either, I have more than enough to make it thru 5/6yrs of school if I need debt free with looksmaxxing too. That's why I've been considering it. What made you decide CS? Also where do you work (if you're comfortable sharing that)? And yeah I agree, its unlikely. But even if I die not making anything, I might at least contribute to the eventual invention of something

Why? Where do you live?

USA/UK is ideal for CS

Korea/Japan/Taiwan is ideal for CE or EE

Europe is awful for those subjects

The funny thing is that Management and Finance degrees are easy, in finance for example its mostly about persuading and leading people , the valuation and accounting skills are very easy compared to STEMM , excelling at those skills is not enough because the competition is so high that Looks and height matter alot

With a CS degree, join a prestigious HFT firm and hit upper management. It’s not uncommon to obtain 7 figure salaries at that level there

Good paths to be truly rich, not upper middle-class are:

  • Professional athlete (NBA, NFL, MLB)
  • Celebrity (actor, social media, rapper, etc)
  • Found a startup or be on the initial team
  • Doctor/lawyer in a high-ticket field
  • Wall street
I don't understand why anyone who wants to be rich gets a CS or Physics degree. You'll make <$120,000 while the celebrities make millions and enjoy their job.

All of the top 4 are good

Manager and IB/PE are not proper profession imo though, the actual curriculum of those degrees is very easy compared to STEMM and its possible for unrelated people to break into this field too.
I would, if money was everything either become

  • Surgeon M.D.
  • Corporate or IT & IP Attorney

After those one could become a Medical technology Company CEO or Investment Manager anyway, while still having a protected job title and valuable skills. Becoming an Influencer would also still be a possibility.

Being/becoming rich isn't about choosing the right career path. There's plenty of people who earn over 6 figures that are still relatively poor. Being rich is about knowing how to keep/grow your wealth. Yes, understanding finance is key. But you don't need to pay a buttload of money to any institution to do that.

Personal wealth is one of the few things where it's NEVER a good idea to "fake it till you make it". It's far better to be rich and pretend to be poor, than to be poor while pretending to be rich. You'll never get far with the latter.

A man who's truly rich is one who never works hard for his money, because his money works hard for him. You must invest. That doesn't mean go out and get a house/mortage. Property's usually the first investment people make when starting out. It's a terrible choice, for more than one reason. Especially in this day and age.

You should try to earn a high salary, when starting out, and invest at least 80% of it or more in "safe investments" (municipal bonds and whatnot) for the first two years. At the same time you should soak up everything you can about finance. Go get a copy of Personal Finance for Dummies. That'll be as good an education on the subject as any university course can provide. Probably better actually. Anyways, after a year or two of learning and investing everything you got in amateur stuff, you want to start investing more lucrative, yet risky, things.

You can't be afraid to lose. And you will lose some. It's all part of the learning process though. The world's filled to the brim with poor folks who have never lost a dime, but EVERY person who's rich has lost sizeable sums of money here and there.

Your ultimate end goal should always be to become financially independent. If you're making a big salary but are still working for somebody else, and you can't afford to lose your job, then you haven't made it.

Being wealthy is a mindset. Money is nothing more than a tool. You can give all the money in the world to a person and, if they don't have the right mindset, they won't be able to maintain it.

Lastly, avoid debt like the plague.

Ofcourse the career path is the most important, the things youd learn in a Language or Humanities degree are just useless on the Market. The mindset doesn't matter if you're making minimum wage and don't have excess cash to invest, neither are able to developing great business ideas.

All of the 3 below also enable one to work in Management in a BioPharma, Financial, or any other company
  • Medicine / Dentistry
  • Finance from Target Uni

Well, minimum wage should only be for teenagers who are just starting out, or elderly people who've retired but are too bored to stop working. If you're in your 20s and still making minimum wage you're a moron. You don't need to careermaxx just to get out of that bracket.

I don't know nothin about no kind of degrees. I ain't never been to college. I don't wanna go either. Don't think I ever will.

Depends, did you graduate from a target school? If yes try to work at a FAANG company and use the 6 figure salary to invest in passive income generators (fast food franchises and the like). If not try to get in as an financial analyst or some managerial IT role
