Gummy smile

Is gummy smile a major failo and is it worth getting surgery for? Or should i just try not to expose it, rarely smiling fully with my teeth?
I remember going to dentist when i was younger and said it used to concern me a bit and she advised not to do anything with it (as you would expect) since they might just elongate my teeth and make it look more ridiculous. Thoughts?

Mines long midface because that means a long philtrum, thin non convex lips, and low ipd which are all masculine traits
