He has a point. You can even do this through exposure, it has an incredible impact on ppls mind men and women. You will often notice how male and female actors that worked together a long time on a movie set often end up in relationship simply due to being exposed to each other all the damn time so they develop and attachment. I first started noticing this is in my day to day life since I am extremely routine oriented and I grab my food and groceries at the same time and same places throughout the week. People start to get used to you and comfortable around you, it starts with hi, then a smile, then small talk and one time I end up getting invited to a birthday party to an older women at gas station. All of that from 1 minute going into the gas station to get my redbul and pack of cigs when I used to live unhealthy. But I was too damn consistent with my routine

For all the guys that have been in the friend zone for years thinking you've got a shot. Sorry, but no- you don't. It'll be very hard to reconstruct the image she has of you, as a friend based on years of exposure.

The only shot you've got is to leave her, don't interact with her for a long while (> 1 year) and come back a completely new person (new personality, looks) so that the memory of the old you is somewhat faded and easier to alter.

Still, you've gotta ask yourself if the woman is even worth all this effort, better to just leave and get with a new girl who doesn't have any preconceived notions about you.

The worst thing you can do as a man is fall for the fantasy that there's not a girl just like her around the corner.
