Has anyone dropped out of medicine to pursue software engineering because they realised they were too autistic

I'm high IQ but med is ceebs at this point because of social anxiety + I find interacting with people very draining

Can I make it into the tech industry with a bachelor of science (unrelated to compsci) + self taught coding?

i mean its not impossible but its recommended you get a CS degree IMO, can always just do a bunch of projects and use that to list as experience or if desperate lie that you did get a degree

I can understand if you are in a paramedical, pharmacology or a nursing field.

But if you just skipped being a legit doctor to join some Indian tech service, just fucking LOL at you.

I'm still deciding (just finished 1st year med). Also med is not easy, it is a very hard course and junior doctor hours are slavery. Since I'm introverted I believe I'll find compsci much less torturous

I can get a masters in data science or IT and start rn since ive got my bachelor already. How do u think this compares to getting an undergrad compsci degree or self learning? The undergrad compsci degree would cover more things but its 3 years vs 2 for masters

Being a doctor sounds shit ngl

Stressfull, people dying all the time, long hours in an actual hospital etc

As a software engineer my day consists of an 850 wake-up 10 mins before I start, making a coffee then spending half the day on this forum/discord and still getting paid more than a doctor

Fucking ideal. What % of software engineers have it this chill?
Also would it be possible for someone in your position to smoke weed every day after you finish working?

I want to do the opposite how do I start?

Yes easily- I don’t get any kind of drug test

Not into weed but have done coke and mdma several times since I began workcelling

Probs depends on your team but most of us get to work from home mostly which is the main thing for me and generally salary mog doctors are slay at entry level

Altho ceiling pay is probs higher for medicine

Perosnally I think this is a way better lifestyle, also ideal for looksmaxxers wanting to get surgeires etc cos you can LDAR at home when recovering and have enough disposable income to afford it

Medicine is rote memorization and programming needs problem solving, logic and math skills, they are completely opposite careers, what can you do best?

Decent at both. Not god-tier. However I don't think you need to be god tier for being a software engineer? I'm willing to put in the work and centre my entire day-to-day routine around study

People online seem to think every dev is some sort of NASA rocket scientist

Most of what I do day to day is not that hard. Obviously occasionally I’ll run into issues which takes a bit of logical thinking/being creative with solutions etc but it’s not like you’re solving super complex problems constantly
