I might take accutane soon if topicals don’t work and I wanna know if the side effects are just fear mongering or actually real?
And can you do anything to minimize it?

I've genuinely had 0 side effects with accutane so far

Just make sure you use aquaphor

Sides are real not fearmongering. Dry lips and skin is pretty much guaranteed, joint pain and liver/lipid hits at higher doses are common which is why you get monthly bloodwork, and hair shedding and brain fog happen to enough people that it's worth knowing about going in. Before jumping on it exhaust topicals first, tret 0.05% at night, benzoyl peroxide wash in the morning, azelaic acid 15% for inflammation, and clean up your diet by cutting sugar and processed garbage. If none of that works after a few months then accutane makes sense but it shouldn't be your first move
If this was helpful mark it as solution ☑ then if you have any

Nothing will happen (probably). Accutane like a lot of other treatments are known as "dangerous" by normies when it really won't do shit to you, you probably won't even dose it hard enough for it to have an impact on your liver. Just moisturize that's quite it.

If you're already on epiduo 6x a week and azelaic 15% daily and it's still not clearing up then yeah accutane is your next step, you've done the topical route properly. Start low dose like 10 to 20mg daily, a lot of people clear up on low dose with way fewer sides than the standard 0.5 to 1mg for kg dosing derms push

are you on any antibiotics?
I did a 3 month course of doxycycline finished it around April and continued with buffered epiduo and it didn’t clear me fully and then like 2 weeks ago I gradually started epiduo bare skin 6x a week and bought a bunch of azelaic gel 15 at Poland when I was there to use every day AM

I think I’m just gonna try the routine I got now and tret is less effective for acne than epiduo

Dryness and sun sensitivity is the only issues. use Aquaphor for your lips and id recement the La Roche Posay lipikar AP+Max triple repair moisturizing cream with any type of sun cream as well.

Besides the dry lips and flakey skin that everyone gets accutane caused me joint and back pain that lasted for several years. It also dried out my hair and altered the texture. Hair and joints eventually returned to normal but it took a long time. Might be beneficial to run GHK-CU after accutane for faster recovery . All in all tho I feel like it was worth it.
