All I can think about these days is how pointless my life is and trying to live up to a fake version of myself that is unachievable.

I want to be the most popular kid at school, a D1 athlete, a Chad, be social, rich, jacked, etc. But none of these things are realistic about me and I’m destined to be “average.”

I see kids on instagram my age who are rich, d1 athlete, get any girl they want, have all the friends in the world and are liked by everyone and this persistence causes me to consider roping.

I guess what I’m trying to ask is how can I fix this mental issue? It seems like I’ve been going down a rabbit hole for years and my mental health continues to grow worse. Nothing is ever enough for me and it’s causing my life to go downhill and lean towards drugs.

Dude honestly focus on one thing at a time, everyone wants to be good looking, rich, jacked, etc but these things don't magically appear they come throughout time.
When you see your friends posts on Instagram you saw a lot of their happier sides such as being rich having girls but you also don't see the arguments, pain and suffering that it took them to reach that point.
Comparison will very easily kill your happiness, try not to do it too much. Even some of the best people in their region can feel like nothing if they compare themselves to others, you should solely try to focus on yourself and not others. Focus on how your mental has improved. Your skills, your gym progress. These things will all take time. Even fully grown adults may have trouble with these things, and the fact that you're wanting to become better is already a step in the right direction.

Speaking from someone who has had lots of mental health issues, it really does it better after you see yourself making progress. Sure, there were many downsides but once you see self improvement and when you stop comparing yourself to the other teens on social media, you will see a huge difference.
