How do I make friends in a new class

I’m worthy of having friends and ppl like me but it takes a long while until I start exchanging words with guys and it never comes to the point where I meet them cuz I never come to the hangouts.

I want to change that. When I come into my new class how do I integrate and start hanging out after a short time.
