THE PHILTRUM FRAUD GUIDE — How to Visually Shorten Your Philtrum Without Surgery
Nobody talks about this enough. Long philtrum will age you, throw off your whole facial harmony and make your nose look bigger than it is. Here's everything that actually moves the needle.
WHY IT MATTERS
Ideal philtrum in men is around 11-13mm. Anything longer and your midface starts looking droopy. The play is either compressing it visually or building up what's around it so the ratio looks tighter. Both work.

MAXILLARY PROJECTION
Retrusive maxilla makes everything cave inward. Nose drops, philtrum elongates, lips go back. Fix the projection and all of that reverses.
Mewing — tongue flat on palate consistently. Years long play but if you're young it genuinely influences maxillary position over time. Do it regardless.
Palate expanders and orthotropic appliances — widens and pushes the maxilla forward. Needs an orthodontist who actually knows orthotropics not a standard bracket guy. AGGA and similar devices exist for this.
Pyriform filler — HA or Radiesse placed at the sides of the nose base creates real forward projection illusion. Directly makes the philtrum read shorter. One of the most slept on filler placements.
EXTRA FRAUD
Nasal tip rotation — upturned tip makes philtrum read shorter because it cuts the visual distance. Filler at the columella base rotates it slightly without surgery.
Kill any upper lip shadow — laser or wax. Any darkness above the lip draws the eye to philtrum length.
Grow a mustache — covers the whole thing if it's really bad. Straightforward.
Teeth projection — retruded front teeth push lips inward. Invisalign or braces can address this and it directly affects how your lips sit.

- Subnasal lip lift if you want it permanent — surgeon removes a strip of skin under the nose, pulls lip up 3-5mm, scar hides in the nose crease. With a good surgeon you can't see it after 6 months. This is the permanent answer.
