Yeah It was just that in the state I live in. You have to go through a crazy ass process to buy bitcoin. I just ended up buying from some dude in Ukraine using localbitcoins.

Question, why monero specifically?

If whatever you're buying accepts monero it's better than buying it with bitcoin cause it's fully private. But if you don't care you can just buy it with bitcoin or whatever else they accept.
