in high school, you'd basically be actively made fun of if you didn't wear a t shirt and gym shorts/jeans. long nike socks to top it off. the compulsory dress code was dressing like absolute fucking garbage. at least in suburban areas (majority of the country). if you dared even make your shirt and shorts match, people would accuse you of hyperfaggotry. i myself because conscious of this, and even began being very suspicious of guys who wore shirts with buttons on them instead of graphic tees.
if you wore a shirt with buttons on it at all, it'd be like "what are you so fucking dressed up for? where's the bottle of champagne? are you going to a wedding?" and its like, a short sleeve plaid shirt or some shit
this seems to transcend wealth
even those kids at school whose family made 6 figures, they had to dress like shit too
@blackckatt was pointing out how people in the hood dress as well in the usa compared to french
usa
french
there are so many clothe si think look cool but i feel like everywhere except in maybe nyc, la, chicago you will be deeply ridiculed if you do not actively dress like shit. there is a culture of everyone saying "we have all agreed to dress like shit because we collectively do not want to put in the effort. if you dare trespass it makes me look bad. lets all make sure we are helping make everyonr esle look good."
