I NEED QUESTIONS ANSWERED ON MY PALATE EXPANDER

Hi

I just had my palate expander done this week

It’s a regular one

The orthodontist target for a 8mm expansion

I have few questions:

1: Will it stimulate forward growth to my maxilla ? Looking for 2mm, which by the way if it does will help in correcting my bumpy ethnic nose (it’s slightly bumpy, not much)

2 : I am 17, just turned 17, my bones age are 18 (this is due to growing up fat), will the regular palate expander (no marpe / mse) stimulate maxilla as I want it to ?

1: a regular expander won't reliably stimulate forward growth especially due to your age and your fused suture. MSE/MARPE would work better for something like this. also, it won't be enough to fix a nose bump, just get rhino for that stuff.

2: probably not.

i believe the palate expander just splits your mid-palatal suture causing changes in the width of your maxilla not necessarily forward growth if lucky maybe very subtle, although you will see a significant difference in your zygo projection

I think only mse and marpe does this
Stuff like rpe I think doesn't

upper jaw (maxilla) is widened meaning wider midface, not lower jaw (mandible) if thats what u mean by wider jaw
