I can assure you they were not Pashtun but rather something else. They don't have a history of being Hindu, so they couldn't belong to such a caste. Maybe millenniums ago though. But that changed when Islam came.2 aI don't know much about it since my grandma is long dead and as I said I never met most of my family from there.
The reason I assumed pashtun was partially because they're Muslim.
As far as I know my grandfather came from a prominent high caste family. That's where the caste stuff comes from. He was estranged from them and took a new last name. I THINK he was Kshatriya but I'm not really sure.
