Since I took that spicy gummy (9 million Scoville) for losing fantasy football I do not feel any real pain from even extremely spicy food that I eat. I just had some Ghost pepper salsa that used to feel quite spicy but now I'm just eating it like regular dip. I can add tons of serrano/jalapeno peppers and tons of cayenne powder and hot sauce to my meals and honestly nothing, it just enhances the flavor.

Is this comparable to receptor downregulation?

I’ve noticed a higher pain tolerance when I’m at a better metabolic rate, not sure it’s to your extent though.

eat a raw habanero or hotter you will feel it

you would be less sensitive from TRPV1 activation, eat enough capsacin and it will cause TRPV1 neurons to die

Desensitization[edit]

Upon prolonged exposure to capsaicin, TRPV1 activity decreases, a phenomenon called desensitization. Extracellular calcium ions are required for this phenomenon, thus influx of calcium and the consequential increase of intracellular calcium mediate this effect.[15] Various signaling pathways such as phosphorylation by PKA and PKC, interaction with calmodulin, dephosphorylation by calcineurin,[16] and the decrease of PIP2, have been implicated in the regulation of desensitization of TRPV1. Desensitization of TRPV1 is thought to underlie the paradoxical analgesic effect of capsaicin.

I'll buy some habaneros and try them tomorrow raw. Not expecting anything crazy tho every spicy just tastes good now

I never thought of it as an analgesic but that makes sense, after the pain ended after the gummy I felt very very good, like almost felt high

Eating large amounts makes you less sensitive to pain and could make you live longer

I used to grow my own superhots and eat heaps, I used to piss out capsaicin and it really hurts
