The gospels are also credited by historians as proof for his existence. Jesus's followers believed in him. So did his enemies who hated him, that then wrote about him. There's still more "proof" since the list goes on.

Ironic since a core teaching of Christianity (Im Catholic) is that EVERY single person is sinful and falls short of gods glory (except Christ) and we are meant to judge no one. A true theist would know that. A Christian is NOT better than the secular man.

There is also archeological evidence for some of the events described in the old testament (pre Christ lore and history) and new testment (where Jesus and related figures appear)
