I'm wondering which one is better rn, my initial idea was to get some jaw fillers just to see if I like the look and then get the custom made jaw implants, I'm in europe so I would probably look for pagnoni. But I saw some people around here talking badly about jaw implants and how they'll eventually fuck you up, so I'm wondering if I should really pursue it, or maybe get a bimax (even though I really don't think I need it since I want barely any advancement and really just want larger and more defined jaw). Anyway if anyone could help me out figure this stuff out before I start pursuing I would really appreciate it

quite confused when I saw people talking badly about implants saying that they looked weird, fillers looked better, would misalign and gain infection, so I was wondering abt it and decided to ask here, after all I don't think a plastic surgeon that puts implants would be super honest with me abt the risks implants could have later on.

don't listen to the surgeons.

listen to the experienced patients.

there have been many people who have had implants here.. Look at their experiences.

guy named Saiyan — his implants turned out really well, and I spoke to him years later; he had no issues at all.

if the implants are solid and fixed with screws, they stay stable and don’t move.

the implants that look bad are the ones that are poorly designed.

minimalism is law.

yeah I'm specially worried about it moving, since I do boxing and that's quite a famous sport for putting pressure on your jaw, can I dm you to ask more abt this?

may just not go for fights anymore then, this low key more important than doing random amateur fights here and there, will still train tho since that is relatively low intensity
@Lefor3Laser correct me if I am wrong, but titanium screwed in implants shouldn't move at all?

I mean, screws in general shouldn't make the implants move, but more reliable are the stronger screws, so yes, titanium is reliable.

So some sports like boxing will be okay? I mean some use equipment anyway

What made me come to conclusion is that jaw widening trough bimax is actually a good idea and then implants to top it up, since the ramus will be more visible and make the curve more natural (less projection in the implants) and smaller chance of muscle dehiscence, but there's also risk of a condyle problems in the future, not very informed on how much is the maximum mm's you can get, but i think it's 5 on each side.

Yeah, the screws will remain there, probably only the implant may crack if the force was strong.

From the documents i read, it was recommended 5 mm's, you can go more yeah, but i don't know how risky is past 5 mm's if it does problems in the future or not, it may depend on the base of the jaw and how much stress it will be put after the surgery.

fillers are <$1000 in most countries so just experiment with them

bimax sounds hella scary, but honestly probably worthy, do you know if it could help with tmj though since I have that problem too? And yeah maybe 5mm would be too much since my jaw is already 79% of my cheekbone width I just wanna get to like 85 or smth so 2 mm on each side might just do the trick. Implants will definetly be needed to make my gonial go outwards and get some more ramus height.

You should consult with a ortho and a surgeon to see, since they'll know the best, sometimes doing jaw widening may worsen the tmj rather than fix the problem, that's why i am advocating towards a consultation.

Yeah already have an appointment with an ortho abt it cuz I went to two of (one of them gave me this issue in the first place) and their answers were pretty trashy and had basically no idea, now I'm going to the top guy in my country when it comes to jaw stuff, will ask him abt surgeries and try to probe to see how BP the guy is, may even get the state to sponsor a bimax if everything goes right too lmao. Another dumb question mentioning sleep apnea helps me when pushing for a bimax? I heard it does and was just wondering if they can even know if u have it just so I don't make a fool of myself in case I say I have it

This is an age old question. The answer like many things is situational and unique to your case.

by case you mean how I look, my life-style or amount of money I have to spend on surgeries?

Consult with a surgeon and let him talk with the orthos since this is also a option.

Yes functionally if you want to get your insurance to pay up, but if you want it aesthetically, they won't pay for it, for example someone like ramieri, you can't consult with him, you'll have to be very lucky for your insurance to agree, only if you are in the same country wich increases your luck.

yeah even though geo-politics may have you thinking otherwise the EU is not a country so I probably couldn't get a bimax from ramieri, even though I would like it

If you truly need it, consult with a surgeon and see, since i would tell you that opinions on here do not matter as much as what surgeons will tell you.

All of those things.
yeah should probably start looking for some good surgeons in my country to best advice me then, though I am quite reluctant to hear out doctors that directly benefit from me going for the max avenue, but hey it's not like I know anything abt medicine so I gotta hear them out

btw going to an ortho doesn't count when we talking about talking to surgeons right? I should directly contact someone specialized in bimax surgery in my country correct?

And you'd right to be suspicious.

That's why you supplement consultations with independent research.
Yeah, you should know something so you would know what the surgeons are telling you.
